2023 Pacific Division Preview

2023 Pacific Division Preview

Western Conference

Pacific Division

The Pacific division may feature several of the worst teams in the league this season, although, there may be some unexpected potential and upside in a few of them. Out of the gate, Seattle looks like the best team on paper, and really the only contender for the division title, but I would not be surprised if the race ended up close towards the end of the season.

Oakland Icons
Offense: poor
Defense: poor
Overall: poor
After back to back division titles, Oakland may be looking at a down season. There are questions all over the offensive side of the ball, but there are a few good playmakers. The defense has holes, but if their interior can play well, then they may be able to become a better unit as a whole, if they can stop the opponent's run games. This isn’t going to be the worst team in the Pacific division, but I don’t think they will be the best either..

Portland Samurais
Offense: poor
Defense: poor
Overall: poor
Portland looked like they would have been a bad team last season, but ended up pulling out 7 wins. They played better than paper would suggest, and I think they have that kind of potential again this season. They do have playmakers on offense, and I think O-line play is going to be key to this team's success. The defense will play hard as well, but tallent may be the main issue there. I am interested in how this team plays this season, as I don’t think they will be as bad as this preview shapes them up to be.

Seattle Sockeyes
Offense: average
Defense: good
Overall: average
Seattle again had a decent team in 2022, but they were just not able to make a push into the playoffs, as the team fell apart at the end of the season. They now have some good players, and a good defensive core. The offense may surprise some people as well. Coming into the season, Seattle looks like the team to beat in the Pacific Division. Can they live up to the expectations?

Vancouver Bears
Offense: poor
Defense: poor
Overall: poor
It looks like it’s going to be another bad season in Vancouver. The Bears again look like they will be at the bottom of the league, in both offense and defense. Young players on either side of the ball may make this team better, if these players pan out and can play well in this league, but their talent is in question. This Bears team yet again has last place written all over it.
